Well we are looking to get an enclosed trailer here in the next couple weeks and I have some questions. I wanted to relay our setup that we have planned out and see what you guys think and/or if you have any suggestions for us. Most of the time the trailer will be towed with my dads truck 1998 chevy silverado 2wd with the 305 and with my truck 1998 chevy silverado z-71 4x4 with the 350. Heres our setup..

Trailer length: 12' (should we look into a 14')
style: v-nose
axle: single (should we look into a tandem?)
width: 7'
height: 6'6"

We are most likely just gonna haul one or two quads...but we would like to have th extra room for our generator, cabinets, tire racks, toolboxes, and wall racks.

Any information will be greatly appreciated:D

i would go 14 and a tandem. make sure you have electric brakes on the trailer also

If you plan on pulling with a 1/2 ton. I would highly suggest going as light as possible.

Here is a decent trailer that would fit your needs. I would go to an 8 ft wide for convience

Popo what size do you plan on getting since you currently have a 1/2 ton? Can you get a 14' and pull it easy enough?

I have a 814MC 8x14 with a 2 foot extension added.

Curb weight is 2175 LBS. First thing I did is tried an 18 footer on the lot. My truck pulled it with ease,no problems going up hills etcc

Still gonna get a 3/4 ton with diesel down the road.

We ordered a 7x16 enclosed trailer it's supposed to be in Friday. We will be pulling it with a 2003 Ford Expedition 4x4 with a 5.4L

Single axle should be fine and it allows you to pull it without dropping or raising the hitch whereas a tandem requires a level pull height.

V nose is very nice if truck is underpowered to cut through the wind. The 305 will struggle slightly.

Brakes are nice but not a necessity with the trailer being 14'. I would definately spring for the extra 2 feet and get the 14 footer.

Good luck.

if you get a V-nose, dont get a single axle... they dont pull very good... i had a 8 1/2 x 20 and my 1/2 ton 5.3L pulled it pretty good.. get someting that you can stand up in, otherwise you hit your head all the time..

i have a 7x12 -can get two back to back or three side ways-its great with just two but when you go three there isnt much room left for any thing else-if i did it over- i would go 7x14 tandam- i think tadams pull better-that extra two foot you could get cabenits and lots of spare parts in -my 97 1/2 ton with 350 puled it great and my 00 1/2ton 5.3 pulls it better
