February 27-29th the NQRA invaded the Motocross World Park for three days of family fun! Practice and signup was held on Friday. The MX Race was on Saturday with TT on Sunday.

The track location was only about a one hour drive south west of Daytona Beach!

The track was easy to find with its Hot Rod School Bus out Front to catch your Eye!

I use to head down to Florida in the Winter and practice MX at this facility every year before the race season. It was aways one of my favorite tracks even though it was a little sandy.

The Turn out for first event this year was lower than what would be expected for such a great location! Randy Dinkins has been working on updating their website and getting the information out about upcoming events, but I think the word isn't getting out to as many people as it should.

Even with less than one hundred riders in attendance the event still provided plenty of racing action for everyone. Randy combined several classes together to keep it exciting, and it worked extremely well except for me trying to figure out who was who on the line.

Each Class ran two motos to determine the overall winner for each class! The majority of the races were 4 laps on an outstanding MX track! Jeremiah Jones loved the track and couldn't wait to practice on it more after the event was over.

Shane Hitt & Tim Farr were at the track on Friday, but both suffered mechanical problems and they weren't back on Saturday to compete. Jeremiah Jones, Jason Dunkelberger, Harold Goodman, Dave Diver, and several other pros were on hand for the Pro Event!

Admin
03-10-2004, 10:03 AM
The Women started with the 16 24 Open Guys, but #23 Jamie Rentz wasn't Intimidated one bit! He YFZ didn't start on the 2nd moto until everyone was already through the first corner down the straight away, but she put the hammer down.

Within a few laps, she managed to work her way up through the pack!

Admin
03-10-2004, 10:04 AM
It was disappointing to see one of the male riders intentionally trying to keep her from passing him :grr: She must have learned her passing skills from her fiancé Jeremiah Jones because his repeated attempts were spoiled as she finally doubled past him :macho and took the overall lead and Win the Women's Class

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:08 PM
PRO Class

I saved the best for last, and I only say that because of how scary and exciting the 1st Moto was to watch for everyone there!

The Pro Class only had seven entries and Doug Flinner wasn't even able to race after his Pro Am race problems earilier in the day.

With only six racers in the First Moto, it was still one of the most exciting races I ever watched!

#37 David Diver

Jeremiah Jones & Jamie Rentz :D

Jeremiah was running his normal #2 YFZ. Instead, he was running his practice quad #23 to save his race quads for the Gatorback the following weekend.

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:14 PM
The 1st Moto also included #19 Jason Dunkelber, #708 Harold Goodman, #0 Brit Mansell, and #72 Richard Newbern

Harold Goodman squeezed out the Holeshot with Jeremiah and Dunk Battling for 2nd Place.

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:19 PM
Several turns into the race, they headed down a straight away to a large table top. Jones & Dunk collided and Jones was thrown off the side of the table top at high speeds

The Quad stopped, but Jones was thrown atleast ten feet through the air and rolled several times to a stop. It was a terrifying moment to watch, but luckily the sand absorbed the shock of the dismount and Jones quickly returned to his feet!

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:22 PM
The course marshall quickly ran to Jones aid and uprighted his quad, and Jones hooked up his kill cord and was ready to race again. The rest of the pack was atleast minute ahead of jones by this point.

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:23 PM
Meanwhile, Harold Goodman was flying out front in the Lead!

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:24 PM
Jason Dunkelberger was in 2nd with Brit Mansell in 3rd.

#37 David Diver (Lost Creek Cycle) was in 4th

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:25 PM
#72 Richard Newbern was back to 6th Place with #23 Jeremiah Jones closing in fast!

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:27 PM
Several laps into the race, #708 Harold Goodman had developed a several second lead over Dunk in 2nd Place.

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:29 PM
Jeremiah Jones (Yamaha, Curtis Sparks) was satisfied with just trying to finish the race after a horrific wreck. No, he was charging harder than I have ever seen him run, and he quickly was able to catch up Newbarn to move into 6th place.

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:31 PM
Jason Dunkelberger continued his charge in 2nd Place!

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:33 PM
Jones continued to set his sights on the racers in front on him and next in line was David Diver in 5th Place!

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:35 PM
David Diver was passed by Jones, but David did some passes off his own when he passed Brit Mansell to move back into 5th Place.

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:35 PM
#0 Brit Mansell dropped back to 6th Place

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:36 PM
Harold Goodman still maintained a comfortable distance between him and Dunk with only a few laps to go, but Jones was quickly catching up to Dunk!

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:41 PM
Jason Dunkelberger quickly became Jones next victim as he passed him and dropped Dunk back to 3rd Place!

Dunk, still didn't mind posing for an awesome picture :D

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:45 PM
Jones only had a couple laps to go and Goodman was several seconds ahead of him, so Jones raced like he was going to put out a fire!

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:49 PM
With only a few hundred feet to the finish line Jones had caught up to Harold Goodman!

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:54 PM
Jones edged out Goodman at the finish line by a Tire! It was an incredible come back by Jeremiah and the fans were going wild.

Admin
03-10-2004, 04:56 PM
Jason Dunkelberger finished in 3rd Place with Brit Mansell 4th, Richard Newbern in 5th, and 6th was David Diver after he wrecked.

Top Three Finishers!

Harold Goodman, Jason Dunkelberger, and Jeremiah Jones

PRO Moto 2

The 2nd Moto was as exciting as the first, but it was still a great race to watch! Unfortunately, David Diver wasn't able to compete in the 2nd Moto because he cracked his exhaust in the first race after a wreck!

This time Jeremiah Jones grabbed the Holeshot!

Admin
03-10-2004, 05:09 PM
Jones easily stayed out in the lead this time!

Admin
03-10-2004, 05:11 PM
The battle this time was between Dunk and Goodman for 2nd place!

Admin
03-10-2004, 05:12 PM
Dunk was flying trying to hold off the charging Goodman!

Admin
03-10-2004, 05:16 PM
#0 Brit Mansell was running strong in 4th!

Admin
03-10-2004, 05:17 PM
#72 Richard Newbern was in 5th!

Admin
03-10-2004, 05:18 PM
Jeremiah Jones extended his lead, but he still wasn't going nearly as fast as he was in the first Moto.

Admin
03-10-2004, 05:19 PM
Goodman finally was able to pass Dunk and move into 2nd Place!

Admin
03-10-2004, 05:20 PM
Jeremiah Jones Coasted to an easy win in the 2nd Moto

Admin
03-10-2004, 05:21 PM
Harold Goodman again crossed the finish line in 2nd Place!
