The Bill Ballance Crew was one of the earliest teams to arrive and start setting up their pit area. The entire team takes each race seriously, and they don't take for granted Bill Ballance's Win Record. Every race is a new one, and they are out for another win!

#9 Todd Knippenberg (HMF Engineering) makes some final adjustments on his YFZ. Todd was racing a 400EX last year and the first race this year before he switched to the YFZ. Unfortunately, he is still working out the bugs, and hasn't had the finishes he would like on his YFZ. His best finish this year was 7 Overall in Texas on his 400EX

The Tireballs have dramaticallly changed ATV racing for the better! 14 out of the 21 Pros at the General had Tireballs installed, which gave their entire pit crew a break from having to worry about there rider coming in with a flat tire and costing them the Win!

Tireballs aren't inexpensive, but when you take into account the advantages they provide, they are well worth the expense.

Team Safari's,Matt Smiley, and his team took shelter in their trailer to perform the final preperations on Matt's YFZ while the Rain came down in the Morning before the AM Race.

Before you knew it, the Morning race was over, and the afternoon riders were either staging waiting for their number to be called or already lined up!

#20 Michael Houston is one of the few pros on a 450R.

Admin
03-11-2004, 05:44 AM
#10 Brandon Ballance has been finishing in the top 10 first two races this year!

Admin
03-11-2004, 05:46 AM
#6 Greg Trew showed everyone in Florida that he could make the podium, and I am sure he was to be back up their again soon!

Admin
03-11-2004, 05:48 AM
#11 Johnny Gallagher (Johnny C) has keeping his HMF Suzuki in the the Top 10 the first two rounds!

Admin
03-11-2004, 05:51 AM
#3 William Yokley has been on Fire!!!!

He won the 1st round and lead the 2nd round for a while and finished 3rd overall, so he obviously has his Yoshimura, ELKA, IMS, Roll, ITP, Suzuki performing for him!

Before every GNCC Series Race, their is a prayer to give thanks and ask for the riders safety!

Admin
03-11-2004, 05:55 AM
After the Prayer and National Anthem, the racers prepare for start as the stare across the straight away to the first turn waiting for Flag!

Admin

10 Seconds!!!! Their Hearts start to pound and in a blink of an eye they are off!

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:01 AM
They race to the first turn! William Yokley rounds the corner first with Matt Smiley and Bill Ballance close behind.

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:04 AM
By the end of the 1st lap, Our Champ Bill Ballance had taken the Lead!

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:06 AM
William Yokley was only a few seconds behind in 2nd Place!

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:07 AM
#2 Chris Borich was around fifteen seconds back in third place!

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:12 AM
#12 Bryan Cook was in 4th and was again battling with Chris Borich! Bryan Cook was an awesome racer last year in the 4 stroke A Class, and he is performing better than anyone could have ever expected in his Rookie Pro Year :macho

Chad Duvall, Matt Smiley, Greg Trew, Santo Derisis, Brandon Ballance, and Jeff Stoess rounded out the top 10

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:19 AM
By the 2nd Lap, Bill Ballance (Yamaha, HMF, GT Thuner, Axis, Maxxis) was flying around the MX track like he was National MX racer.

He also had put a few more seconds between him and Yokley.

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:24 AM
#4 Chad Duvall made the pass on both Chris Borich and Bryan Cook to move into 3rd place!

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:30 AM
Brandon Ballance moved up to 7th place after passing Santo Derisi who was struggling with battery issues.

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:33 AM
Andy Lagzdins dropped out of the race after running 11th because of electrical problems on his YFZ. He was highly upset with performance of his YFZ, so I expect to see him on the TRX450R by North Carolina.

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:36 AM
By the end of the third lap, the top five postion remained the same with Ballance still out front and building a cushion between him and Yokley.

#5 Matt Smiley was on the charge and passed Greg Trew to move into 6th Place!

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:39 AM
#20 Michael Houston had moved up from 12th to 9th Place, but still was over minute behind Brandon Ballance in 8th.

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:41 AM
#14 Jeff stoess rounded out the top 10 as he showed off some of his MX skills :macho

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:45 AM
#127 Jason Sloan dropped back to 18th place after running into problems and taking over an hour to finish the 3rd lap. #18 Jared Gruca was up to 15th.

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:48 AM
In the 4th lap, Ballance, Yokley, Duvall were still out front. Chris Borich was struggling with the setup of his YFZ and Bryan Cook was able to capitalize on it and make the pass to move into 4th Place.

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:53 AM
#20 Michael Houston moved up to 8th after passing Brandon Ballance.

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:55 AM
Jeff Stoess moved up to 9th Place!

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:56 AM
Brandon Ballance lost several minutes after his YFZ wouldn't start, and he dropped back to 10th Place.

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:57 AM
#22 Kim Kuhnle moved up from 14th to 11th Place on his Predator.

Admin
03-11-2004, 07:02 AM
By the end of the Final Lap, #1 Bill Ballance had over a two minute lead over 2nd Place as he emerged from the Woods and zig zagged through the field!

Admin
03-11-2004, 07:03 AM
Bill Ballance Won his 2nd GNCC in a Row and extended his Points lead!

Admin
03-11-2004, 07:05 AM
Amazingly, #4 Chad Duvall emerged from the Woods in front of William Yokley, who had a thirty second lead over Chad starting the lap!

Admin
03-11-2004, 07:08 AM
Chad Duvall finally was able to "Snap" his bad luck spell and finish a race! Luckily for him there are two throw aways this year!

Admin
03-11-2004, 07:09 AM
A couple seconds back in 3rd place was a crowd favorite William Yokley!

Admin
03-11-2004, 04:53 PM
#12 Bryan Cook finished 4th Overall at the General for the 2nd Year in a Row :D Last year, he missed the Podium by 23 seconds as a 4 Stroke A rider and this year he missed it by 24 seconds. I am sure Johnny Gallagher & William Yokley didn't mind, and I am also sure that Bryan Cook will be on Podium soon enough!

Admin
03-11-2004, 04:56 PM
#2 Chris Borich finished up almost 2 minutes behind Cook in 5th Place, but I anticipate that Chris Borich will be a greater threat as he gets the demons worked out of his YFZ.

Admin
03-11-2004, 06:02 PM
Greg Trew Finished 6th

Admin
03-11-2004, 08:36 PM
Jeff Stoess Finished in 8th Place behind Michael Houston

Admin
03-11-2004, 08:38 PM
#5 Matt Smiley finished in 10th Place behind Brandon Ballance. Matt Smiley shifter fell off in third gear and he was forced to run an entire lap that way, which worked fine until his clutch started to fade

Admin
03-11-2004, 08:39 PM
#22 Kim Kuhnle Finisehd in 11th Place

Admin
03-11-2004, 08:41 PM
#9 Todd Knippenberg finished 12th and 20th Overall. His best finish of the year was 7th Overall in Texas on his 400EX.

#164 Paul A Rowlands has been racing in the GNCC Series with the help of the Duncan & Dirt First (Andy Lagzdins & Tony). Paul has come over from Europe to compete in the GNCC Series, and after a slow start in the first two rounds, Paul Rowlands finished an impressive 13th in the Pro Class and 24th Overall! He moved up from the previous overalls of 154th and 55th, so if his improvement continues, I expect to see him in the top 20 at North Carolina. Congratulations Paul and welcome to the United States!

Awesome coverage guys. Not that i am complaining but a couple mpegs would be cool on occasion to see some action through some of the knarlier stuff.
Maybe a donation fund should be opened to purchase a quality Digital VidCam to accomplish this. Weird idea??

I think a hemlet cam would be sweet.... just like the H/M ride. This would really give everyone a chance to see what a GNCC race looks like from a racers view.

I could see alot of people buying a copy via DVD... this could help support the site as well. Just a thought...

should not be a hard decision. You saw how many people wanted to buy the H/M DVD.... imagine how many people would buy a DVD of a GNCC race from a pro's point of view.

I think it would pay for itself within two races or so...

If priced reasonable I know I would buy one from every race...

you can also roll that into the patron deal. T-shirt or DvD set or something for $40.
You better check though how much it all would cost. making DvD's aint cheap either. you have to pick what type also i think. r+ or r- but am not sure. Pappy with his new found PS skills can make a cool label for it. I dont think that there are recording devices right now (portable) that can do 2 hours of hi quality Vid because of battery life. It's not like Jeff can say, "hey' gimme a new battery here" and wait around for them to put it in.

Some logistics need to be worked out.

No video, last time I was on video I ended up with a jackass award. :grr:

03-12-2004, 01:57 PM
Just a couple of thoughts

1) Who is going to clean the lense off every 5 minutes???
2) what happens if it is muddy?
3) what happens if jeff takes a spill into the water and the camera goes under? can it with stand that? or it gets hit on a branch and breaks. jeff you better race slower to make sure that camera is OK and getting good footage.
4)How well will the camera hold up to dusty conditions? like millfield 2 years ago.
5) most importantly! Will racer Production let you profit off of their event with out them getting a cut off of it?

I am not saying it is a bad idea. those are just some thoughts that popped in my head while reading this!!

sounds cool though

Hey GNCCer,
I run a helmet cam. I didnt run it at either Fl or Ga..
Fl was to muddy and the camera lens would have been full of mud the first 500 yards.
As for GA we got there to late and didnt have time to set it up.

Now to answer a few of your questions.
1..ONly have to clean the lens off if its muddy.

2...If its muddy not worth it to run.

3...First of all you carry it in a fanny pack on the back side of yourself. If you carry it in a fanny pack even wrapped in bubble wrap inside a plastic bag and end up in the water, the water will find a way inside the camera.
There are speacial cases you can get that are waterproof and those run anywheres from $400-800.

4...Dust is no problem.

5....I have no answer to that. My guess they would want some of the action and then in that case its not worth all the hassle to do it in the first place.

You could always still do it and sell it some sort of bootleg way on the internet.
