The 3rd Round of the GNCC Series was held the the second year at the Aonia Pass Motocross facility in Washington, GA. This was an extremely nice facility with plenty of parking. Also, it was a great for the spectators to watch the racing action on the two motocross tracks on the course.

When I arrived Friday Morning, track conditions were extremely dry, and I was expecting an extremely dusty race on Saturday escpecially by the the afternoon.

Many people arrived earily Friday to begin preparing for Saturday's Race. Many still had plenty of prep work to perfrom on their quads after the Florida Sand grinded away their brake pads and bearings.

My Z needed all new brake pads before the Georgia Race. Fortunately for me, several friends who hauled my Z400 to Florida and Georgia did an excellent job of preparing my quad between races. Thanks (Charlie, Nathan, and Wes)

Other riders weren't as lucky and were making last minutes preperations at the track.

Jeff Russell and his son rode around marking off the course!

I spoke to Jeff about the horrible conditions in Florida, and he agreed that the track was rough again this year, but most likely it will be their again next week because they still have one year left on their contract. Lets only hope that it still might be at a different location next year. Personally, I will not be putting my quad through it next year because the sand damage & expense of fixing it afterwords isn't worth it to me especially after spending all winter trying to make it perfect.

One of the coolest things about GNCC racing is hanging out with friends from all over the country that you have either met at the races or online. At every race, their is a large number of EXriders.com members that show up to hang out with each other. The personal relationship that I have developed from attending these races are incredible, and I am thankful that I participate in a sport with some many friendly people:D

Anyway, here is POPO (Gary) trying to cook some food! Obviously, he knows how to eat  Man, I am Bad :p

Traci Cecco showed up to race less than one week after she fractured a bone in her arm. Traci is bound and determined to defend her Women's Championship. She felt confident that the fracture wasn't severe enough to prevent her from racing, but if she experienced any problems during the race, she call it a day.

Howard came out to the last two GNCC races and assisted with taking pictures for the race coverage. Unfortunately, in Florida, the 200+ pictures he took were lost :( because the memory card has disappeared. I purchased a new one and Howard was ready for Action Again... Thanks Howard for your Hard Work and Dedication to EXriders.com.

Traci Cecco had an incredible race for the what she had to overcome to even compete. She managed to stay within a few minutes of Stephanie, but wasn't able to push herself to keep up.

Angel Atwell had another strong race, but still had to settle for 3rd Place and 12th Overall.

Admin
03-13-2004, 09:14 AM
Kim had a horrible first lap, which took her one hour to complete, but once she got thing going in the right direction she put in some consistent lap times and finished 9th in the Women's Class.

Myself, I was on the gas, but not as hard as I should have been. It is amazing how much faster the YFZ and TRX are compared to a stock Z. They hand me my rear down the straight aways.

Doug Henke Won the Utility Unlimited Class on his Vforce and finished 4th Overall. I was luckily enough to get to run with him almost the entire last lap after I pitted for goggles and gas. He truely help me gain more confindence on my stock Z. I never realized how much different it is to run a stock quad compared to a full race ready machine with a steering stabilizer.

Admin
03-13-2004, 09:29 AM
I managed to move up to 10th place in the stock class and 16th overall with the help of Doug pushing me along on the last last. I think I should get a rope and hook it to his grab bar because he flys on that Vforce.

I'd like to thank GNCCer for hookin me up with some gas during the race. I couldn't find the quadshop pits for some reason while I was out on the track:o So I just pulled in to GNCCer's pits and started hollerin that I needed gas. I dont' even know if they knew who I was at first but everybody was scramblin around to find a gas can and finally he found one and filled me up..:D

03-14-2004, 07:15 AM
I thought you were jsut wanting your picture taken real bad the way you were holering!!!!!

I think it is safe to tell you now. We gave you two stroke gas. it shouldn't hurt anything.

The track ran about 20 feet from Pro row and the quadshop trailer was at the end and pretty much as close as you could get but I never seen it all 4 laps..:huh

The pole with a sign at the end that says "stop here stupid" might be a good idea..

I can't figure out what GNCCER is doing with 2-stroke gas???
Maybe I'll start pitting there too. I think You could have pittted anywhere to get gas. Everybody is cool with helping out. It's cool to know even a top notch rider like GNCCER is still a good enough guy to help a person in need. It still amazes me how many good riders there are from Ohio.
Excellent race coverage guys!
Thanks for having a REAL race coverage. Too many places make up race reports while reading the final standings.
You know like the CRA news letter. IE" john drove hard pats sam who followed chris and struggled with a close third for steve" I despise reports like that!
