Has anyone tried this yet? Will this work with the TPS and all that stuff on the 450R carb. I think the bike has this stuff also. If you tried this what do you think, it made a huge difference on the 400ex's.

850 dollars is way to steep. They have the same setup at jh racing for 650 dollars.

How much work dose it take to setup the FCR carb. I was just looking @ Service Honda
16100-MEN-671 = $388.41 Thats the 04 CRF carb assy. How complete it it i'm dont know. Dose it have the throttle position sensor?

If it's not to complicated after that some cables, shouldn't be very expensive. Then I don't know what it takes.

The number for jh racing is 918 371 0101. Johnny is very helpful and seems to be a pretty nice guy. He should be able to anwser all your questions. BTW he said the hardest part to making the fcr fit the 450r is the intake. Hope this helps.

Will any of these guys sell you the stuff needed to make it work with your own 40mm FCR carb on a 450r? I'm sure others Have a FCR from another project and would prefer to convert their own carb versus selling and purchasing a complete set-up. Both kit's seem alittle pricey considering what Service honda sells these carbs for. For $850 I'd exspect some major gains for that kind of coin.

i was told all you need is the adapter and cable to make the carb work. i was told i can do it for 400 dollars. baldwin is ripping yall off. i am not trying to be rude. thats just my opinion.

$400 plus the cost of the carb or $400 total. I see on the baldwin you get a fancy clutch lever and hot start, but I think some of us would like to find a cheaper route.

i was told 400 or maybe a little more just for the carb and cable and adapter. if your interested call tom miller, his number is (731) 986-0893.

Baldwins carb is all set up to work the the TPS, and it comes with the works connection clutch lever with hot start, that is like 140 just for the lever.

What does the JH racing kit come with. I think the JH racing carb is a little more realisticaly priced at $200 cheaper than baldwins.

could someone explaine why you would go to a smaller (40mm) carb then what already comes on the 450r(42mm)???

baldwin can also mod. the carb if you already have one. He did mine and it added alot. if you have seen one done you will understand why the adapter cost so much. its pretty trick. Its offset so the carb sits at the right angle.I also know johnny Hale from racing the nationals but havnt used his stuff yet.

Do you really need that fancy lever and hot start set-up? What do the other places charge to mod your own carb?

Some one told me that for the intake part to work easily, that you can use a 400ex airbox and intake setup, and it would work just fine. the airbox supposedly drops right in, and the fcr carb works great with the setup.

Here's the deal...A 40mm slide carb is like a 42-43mm butterfly carb because u dont have the butterfly or the shaft in the way when the throttle opens...Throttle response is better and all around performance is better....You buy an 03 crf fcr 40mm from service honda 338 and you also buy a crf hot start cable 9 and clutch lever 40ish?and then buy the adaptor from Johnny hale for 70 and you are done...no need to change the airbox...

The BIG question that nobady has answered..... IS IT WORTH THE $$$.

I would most definately say Hell Yeah!!!

I have the crf cam and the carb but not the piston yet. It really waked the bike up in third and forth (I guess 18's on the rear helps a little too) Riding the bike stock 2nd gear starts were a little slugish, but now 2nd gear is pretty hot and you will be shifting in 3rd really quick. Hardly ever use second on the mx track now still using the stock gearing.

But the bike seems like it needs cdi the way my bike is set up. Shifting out of second has to be pretty quick but third and forth seems like it revs out nicely.

Well as far as is it worth the money? We have been working with our supplier for the fcr carbs and will be offer the FCR MX carb with choke, tps, and hot start for the 450r for around $550 built and prejetted just like we do for the 400ex. I am going to try the 39mm on my wife 450 to gain some bottom end for woods racing. $550 sound alot better than $800 I should have them in a couple of week. We hope to have this setup for the GNCC in Tennesee. I know the stock carb is a 42mm but the round slide carb really lacks alot of performance compared to a smaller flat slide like the fcr. I will post my finding on this asap.:)
