400ex vs z400

do any of u have both a z400 and 400ex or have raced a a z400 i was j/w how much fast a z400 is than my 400ex if they are btoh stock let me know some result u had in the races

I have a stock 2000 400ex, and I have a friend with a stock 03 z400, and another with full FMF pipes, and a Twin Airfilter. But he has 22 tires. In a drag stock on stock till maxxed out the Z mostly wins by 1-3 bike lengths, but to me the ex feels alot more tourqey and feels like it has more power all over, plus I like how the EX corners, but the Z is a little bit smoother of a ride. When I drag the piped one, I can get a bike length on him till im maxxed, then he goes by and keeps pullin (22 inch tires higher the gearing so it takes away a little take off and icreases top speed)

i race my friends piped z400 with stock tires with my piped 400 with 18in tires i have him from the beginning but on the top he eventually passes me

When I had my 400, which had E-Series silencer, filter and jet I beat a few Z400's up comp at Dumont. Most of them just piped and some with filters. I get him at takeoff and I would be ahead a bike length or two all the way until about 3/4 up. I was beat a few times but most of the time I could hold out and win. There was also a kid who was in a riding group with is I didn't know, he had pipes, filter and jet and I was told he was a very good rider. When we went to Comp. I got him 2 out of 3 times. I think the 400ex has more torque, take off speed but the Z gets it in speed...Later

i beat a kfx twice in drags, second time i accidentally shifted into neutral but still beat him......both were stock.:D

When my z was stock it would run with the 400ex I also had. The ex had a .040over 10:1 piston, WB cam, K&N, no lid, 16t counter sprocket and a TC exhaust with the race tip. I kept both of them for about 8 months then sold the ex. I have only raced 2 ex's with the z as modded(see sig) both were just piped and jetted, filter. I suck at drag racing and both pulled me out of the hole but by the time I hit 3rd I'm ahead and pulling away for good. I agree the ex seems for torquey, but the z has alot more topend (my quad versus the 2 I raced). If I was deciding between the z and the ex I'd still keep the z but, If I was buying today I'd buy a 450r. Which I am probly going todo anyhow.

Stock for Stock the two aren't much different accleration wise. It all comes down to the rider.

bs! he had gotten horrible traction i witnessed it..yo u just had the jump..kfx is faster

and dude ur alot better ride than nick is...he slowly shifts..you rip through the gears oh pay back is on its way

mine isn't really stock, but i beat a stock KFX pretty easily,,,

kfx/z400's are noticeably faster than a stock 400ex to me...they are a litte more squirrely though 7 handle somewhat like a raptor but nowhere near as bad...if I could go back would still buy my EX though

With the mods in my sig, i can take a stock Z 3 out of 4 times.:macho That was racing my friend btw! :rolleyes: I raced a piped Z in the dunes when i was all stock and beat him by a bike length the first race, second race he beat me by a half bike length! Those are the only 2 Z's i have really raced!:cool:

Before i had a pipe i raced a stock Z400 and beat it 2 out of three times. I rode it some also and I really don't think it has more power well atleast I can feel it

Z400 has 2-3 HP more than a 400ex. Pretty even in power it's not as much as most think..

i would rather have a z over an ex tho. jmo. liquid cooled, and dohc. But yfz for me ;)
