This weekend I decided to clearcoat my plastics and it worked out pretty good much better than before. The picture however doesnt show the full shinyness of the plastics.

I just wanna thank dirtmomma for her help.

Here are the steps for anyone that wants to do it:

1. First do basic prep by wet sanding the plastics with 400 grit, 600 grit, 800 grit, 1000 grit, 1500 grit, and 2000 grit.

2. Then take lacgeur thinner and apply it to the whole plastics.

3. After that apply a coat or two of Bulldog or Dupli-color paint adhesive.

4. Then finally take the clear coat and apply 3 coats.

5. After you go riding you can now buff your plastics with regular clear coat car wax or mop and glo.

It's made to flex like when you sit on the hood of your car the clear coat is flexing and do you honestly think your plastics flex that much. Also when you get scratches you can buff them out. The best part about the clear coat is the more you put on the shinier it gets after that picture I put some more coats on and it made the plastics mirror.

Trust me this has been done many times before just make sure you follow all the steps including sanding others wise it won’t hold up.

Thanks man. Trust me it makes the plastics better than new. It will defently help with the selling of your 300, that's why I did mine.

This is the same idea as using plastic renew, when you roll or make your plastic flex quite a bit, the clear coat will crack and look worse than it did before. :eek2:

Thats why you use mop and glo after you roll it or go riding. People have had this on there quads for a year using these exact instructions, if you do it right and dont take shortcuts it will work perfect.

The thing with Mop and Glow is after a while of using it it will start to build up. So you need to take some rubbing alcohol and wipe it down to get the build up off and then reapply. I have been using Mop and Glow on my machines for 4 years now and youll see when it starts to build up.

So the Mop & Glow acts as a protector then?? I'm gonna try this and do the clear coating on one of my sets of fenders. Did you sand and prep the underside of the fenders as well??? I want to add stickers to the fenders after this is done. Would you recommend adding the stickers before the clear coat or after? So basically everytime I wash my quad & clean it up after a ride, apply the mop & glow. Cool! How long did it take for you to complete clearcoat process?? Sounds like a good day, I'd think.

Oh...and if the mop & glow builds up...you just use rubbing alcohol like once a season to remove the old mop & glow?

Sounds good besides the prep of the underside of the fenders you dont really need this as no one will see it and yes putting on the stickers first and then clearcoating them sounds like a good idea just dont decide after your done clearcoating you dont like the stickers because you'll have a hell of time getting the sticker off. It should take you about 1-2 hours I never really timed myself just be sure to take as much time as you need and dont rush.

:blah: LOOKS GOOD!!! Glad to hear ya got it done & it turned out good!! As for the sticker issue that Mindi51982 was asking about I did a coat or 2 of clear then put the stickers on I do believe, I think some of them will stick a little better then of course spray over them also. As for the cracking when you flip it, yeah it's gonna do that BUT you just have to be careful NOT to flip it :D :D j/p ;)
