Just wondering if a kinda gurgle , and popping sound (almost like a backfire) engine noise is normal during downshifting, or engine breaking? ive always owned 2 strokes, so im not familiar with the sounds 4 strokes make.

that popping sound is caused by being lean. I would adjust your air screw, pilot settings to fix the problem.

It isn't uncommon for these big thumpers to do that normally. When they are reving up high durning decell and the throttle is closed it isn't getting much fuel even if the pilot screw and jet are correct. It will do it even worse if you have and exhaust system.

Mine does it too, my pipe glows Red hot also. I don't think it is normal!

Never heard a 4-stroker make that popping noise during deceleration.

I think it is caused by being rich? Raw fuel exploding in the pipe? Mine didn't do it until after the HRC kit though. Would hardly run at all with out the kit though.

Let me know how yours does with the kit.
