Coming from someone who has 400ex fenders, and 250R a-arms on his 300ex......and you want 400ex shocks on there too.....:o

I am willing to bet that they will work a lot better than the stock ones that were on there before ;)

Aren't those shocks shorter than stock 400ex shocks? I think they're like a 1/2 in. shorter.

ROFLMFAO

I got a blaster pipe and z400 swingarm for sale if you wanna mount them up too..

Has he measured everything out and is for certain the ball joints aren't gonna brake off when the shock reaches it's lowest point?? What about up travel?? Was this a drunkin experiment??? If it fits it must work:confused:

Whoa....relax guys.

There were several people running elka's and axis' shocks on their YFZ's from their 400s when they first came out and no shocks were available.

I rode one owned by a guy I race with 3 days after he got it with his 400ex elka's on it, and it was a very noce setup.

You think Suzuki is the only one who measured up a 400ex frame?

All I'm saying is that the YZF shocks are shorter. I've measured them.

dawnchris, did you measure them fully extended or as they rest, you can adjust the ride height, which will make the shock longer are shorter as they rest.

Fully extended they were 1/2 in. shorter. You can't adjust that. I'm not saying they won't work, it just lessens the wheel travel if used in the stock mounting location.

I have two 400exs one is a completely bone stock Cali 400ex and the other is the one that you see in the post. The one that you see in the post has almost 1-3/4" more travel than the stock 400ex.

If you say so.....I have a set of those shocks at home, and a 400ex. I don't get the same results.

yfz shocks work on a banshee 2. i think it will work alright as long as you check your balljoints, but it wont be perfect unless you get them rebuild and revalved

hey tore up, i would like to know the approximate dimentions of these mounts if it's not too much trouble. or i guess if you wanted to make another pair, i'd be happy to buy them.

Putting YFZ shocks on your quad isnt a bad idea and I have heard that they work very well..I know this guy that put some on his and he loves them, but he didnt have to make any changes to the mounting bracket either..He just said he had do grind alot off of the tops of the shocks to make them fit..For me this is too much work and there is no way in the world would I cut my shock mount brackets off and weld up new ones for a set of stock shocks that Yamaha made. Like I said the shocks, I hear are good, but not that good. No point in modifying the shock or the frame itself to accomodate something that wasnt even designed for it..Just my opinion..

the reason im asking is that i got the full set of shocks for about $250, and i would like to know if the rear will work, so i will know whether or not to re-sell it.

If you have the whole set then try it for yourself:confused:

well, i'm waiting for them to get here. i just wanted to know if anyone has already done this, so i don't have to waste my time if it won't work.

well i finally got my shocks in and the rear is way off, it's like 3-4 inches too long. i guess you could move the top mount like the long travel axis deal, but i'm not. for the front shocks, i took the shock apart and put them in a mill and flycut them. i am pretty happy with the results, and i think they are gonna work well with my +2 laegers.

i just wanted to say that i finally tried out my new setup on my mx track today, and it works pretty well, i can tell a huge difference in cornering, and they soaked everything up very well, including the 75 foot tabletop, which bottomed out my stock suspension pretty badly. i'm pretty happy and i would suggest this to anyone who can't spend a bunch on shocks.

10-09-2005, 07:01 PM
u could probly get a back end lowering kit too, that would probly help to fit the back shock. And if u could compress the shock u could fit it in their too but compressing the shock would probly be a little hard cuz i cant compress my 400ex stock front shock and the yfz shock is even harder.

the yfz front shocks r like 15 3/4 inches long and 400ex shocks r about 17 inches long.
