yeah thanks but the lt shocks are for a z400 and 400ex shocks won't fit on a z400(1/4 of an inch shorter)

You mean that the Z's shocks are 1/4" shorter?

No 400ex lt custom axis shocks are 1/4 of an inch shorter then lt custom axis for a z400.

I don't know for sure, but I would call axis about this. I think that the bodies for the Z and the EX are the same and that inside the body they use a spacer to limit the travel on the LT's for EX's and the Z probably dosen't have that spacer. If you bought a set for a EX you might be able to just have that spacer removed and then they would be the 1/4" longer you need or just run them the way they are, you would only be giving up 1/4" of shaft travel and you could save $500-$600 over new ones. Just my .02.

It dosen't seem like people have a problem with running Walsh over Houser and Walsh uses 18-3/4 shocks and Houser uses 19-1/4. Houser arms appear to me to have the travel to use a shock much longer than 19-1/4"'s If when you take a shock bolt out of a Houser arm and the arm drops down 2" below the bottom eye in the shock there is some extra travel to behad with those arms. I don't think max travel will always make the quad perform better its a mixture of quality components and how you set the quad up. If your bottoming out all the time you need to adjust your shocks. Your quad should be using all its travel at one point or another on the track you are riding on. If you are bottoming alot then you have them set too soft and it will run awesome in the rough, but everytime you overjump or come up a little short you will bottom.

As far as the shocks I am just assuming that Axis uses the same bodies and that to limit the travel that they put some kind of travel limiter to restrict the extended length of their shock so as to not put the a-arms in a bind when fully extended. That way they wouldn't have to make different bodies for every long travel application. Just a thought.:)

i dont think the 1/4 inch will make that much difference if you are bottoming out that much you need heavier springs

i dont think the 1/4 inch will make that much difference if you are bottoming out that much you need heavier springs or set your compression setting higher

simple math says taht 19 1/4 minus 18 3/4 is 1/2 inch not 1/4.
