400ex headpipe coating?

does the stock 400ex headpipe have some sort of coating on it? it almost looks blued in front of the heat shield and a goldish color behind it:confused: i took some polish and a rag and wiped the pipe and it became clean metal that was super shiny. is there a coating on the pipe? or were those colors just tarnish?

this piped isn't coated. it is a stainless steel headpipe. you can get it ceramic coated for a decent price. i think you can get your whole header and silencer done for under $100 from what i read. this color change is normal with stainless pipes. it is possible your your lean on one of your jets so that makes it run a little hotter which could make the color change of your pipe more noticable too.
