anybody know where to get a seat.

I bought an 86 250r the other day for my wife. I really like everything about it except the seat, the previous owner had installed the hi flight seat and it just feels weird. I am almost sitting above the bars. My question is, is their a place that sells the entire seat for this bike. If so how much. I thought about removing the seat cover and having the foam shaved down on this one but it seems their is about a inch to inch and a half gap from the seat to the gas tank. So I dont think Hi flight did a good job of designing this seat in the first place. I do have a desert tank on it so maybe its the tanks design and not the seat.

Any info would be so appreciated. Also what years will fit this bike in case I see a used one? Does the 300ex or 400ex seats bolt up to this? Again thanks alot. Jeff

the shape of the 250r and 400ex seats are completely different....from the soundof your description the r you have has a desert seat on it which is almost twice as thick as standard.....i dont order much from dennis kirk but they have standard height seat foam for the 250r for 56.99 and some cool CEET covers for another 50 to 70 depending on kind......and the foam should fit the pan you already have....86 thru 89 250r seats are the same

Thanks alot Chris for the quick response. This sounds like the best way to go about it. The only problem I see is I wonder if my pan is really going to work. Here's a picture of the gap between the seat and tank I was telling you about. Again thanks for your help

your seat pan should do fine...(i would think).....and as far as the gap between the tand and the seat-- my wifes 86r also has a high capacity tank....and the gap is strictly from the shape of the tank...if the stock tank was on it would meet and flow together better....if you want i have a stock tank from the 86 you can pm me about it and we can work out a trade??? here is a pic of my wifes tank on hers........

Hey Chris I pmed you. Nice bike! What kind of front plastic is that for your fenders. Also the chrome stuff on your bike,did you buy htem chromed or sent them in to be chromed? Thanks alot for all you help. Jeff

i guess i forgot to answer a couple questions........the a arms are chrome lonestar.........and the front plastic is maier...i forget the style though...
