Which carburetor will give my 300ex more mid to top end speed? The Edelbrock or the 400ex stock carb?

i am not positive but i would guess the edelbrock would. i have talked to people with edelbrocks on their 400ex's and they don't care for them. i think the throttle is hard to push. however, if it was me i wouldn't pass up a 400ex carb for $100 or so. the price will just be right on a used ex carb and you should get some decent gains.

The edelbrock is going to be a better performance carb then a stock carb. It would be alot cheaper to buy a stock 400ex carb. I see them on ebay all the time around 50 dollars. the stock 300ex carb is 32mm and the 400ex is a 35.5mm.

i say edlebrock. and the reason the edlebrock doesn't work well on the 400ex is b/c it isn't set up right most of the time. With the 400 throttle body the slid does not open all the way either, to give you the full amount of power you can get! It also feels stiff cause the cable it comes with isn't right. The best set up for it, and you can ask some of the guys from duncan too, is the new yfz thumb throttle body, with a raptor cable. It will allow you to fully use the carb, and will feel easier on your thumb!
