they are pretty reliable. i haven't had any more problems with my 406/stage 2 combo than i did when the bike was stock. if your going to run pump gas, your compression ratio won't be that high so that also makes it more reliable.

It all depends on compression. I have a 416 with 11:1 compression that I run on 93 Sunoco pump gas and it loves it.

on my 416 (11:1, cam, porting) i ran a 50/50 mix...half a tank of 93 and the other half was 110 octane....ran a lot better and i could sence a noticeable difference in how it ran

What about 10.8 or the next lowest compression? Do the 11.1s have that much more power then the 10.8s? thanks.

Mine's still going strong. I assembled it in January of 2003.

RAPTORAZ,

Is your 416ex set up for desert riding? I would like a 416 kit that is setup for desert/dunes and need to know what to get. Thanks.

Yes. It's primarily dune ridden. It made 33.5 RWHP on KENZ dyno. Just for comparison purposes, a piped Z400 makes about 29 RWHP on that same dyno. So it runs pretty good. Not bad for $310 worth of mods.

Piston and rings - $125
Bore and fit rings - $35
Stage II Hotcam - $125
Honda gaskets - $25

That is pretty good, and I am guessing with a carb and some port n polish it would add 3-5hp.

Does the stage 2 cam help out with the top and mid range power?

It'll probably be getting some Kenz porting soon. And maybe a SPARKS X-6 pipe. But It will probably only get the stock carb bored. As I need the money for an EFI turbo for my 727. It's current 63 RWHP isn't enough.

The Stage II definately picked up the power on the mid and top. It did lose a SLIGHT amount of low end in the exchange however. Worth the trade in my opinion.

I tried my 416 with 11:1 on KLOTZ 100 octane, 50/50 mix of 100 octane and 87 octane pump gas, 50/50 mix of 100 octane and 93 pump gas, and just straight 93 octane pump gas. I honestly could not tell a difference power wise. The race gas smells GOOD, but I am not going to pay $5.00 per gallon just for the smell!;)
