Recently bought this 250X in decent shape...I don't know if it's been messed with because everything is stock. It will start and run good for a few minutes and then start to bog and then will die. I can kick start it a couple more times but it dies soon after. Pull the plug and it's black. I changed the main jet leaner to a 122 with same results. I don't know if the pilot is set right though....Can anybody tell me where the pilot needs to be set at? Do you adjust it with that little nut? Maybe someone can send me a scanned copy from their service manual from the carb section? Please help!!

I'd help if I could, but I don't have a 250x or a manual for one. Good luck though!

i just put a 40 pilot jet in mine its a 300 but it had a 38 in it and it was stock. the pilot jet is right beside the main jet in your carb you change it with a straight screwdriver. i will try to get a pic for you. hope this helps.

So did you have the same problem I am having? And this solved the problem for you? What is your elevation there and temperature?

i put on a hmf slip on, also it didnt start without the choke before no matter what the temp. now it starts good. im at around 1500ft, its around 50 degrees here now. i wasnt fouling plugs but i did some research on this site and decided to rejet.

First off, is you air filter clean, if it is dirty this would make similar symptoms. Are you sure it is running rich, is the plug wet?

A 38 pilot jet should work ok on your stock motor. As stated earlir it is right next to the main jet, and all you need is a flat screwdriver to install it.

This is actually a 400ex carb, but is basically the same. #26 is your pilot jet. The nut you mentioned earlier (#20) should have 3 or 4 threads between in and the main jet if I remember correctly.
