chain and sprocket

im buying a new chain and 14T front sprocket for my 400ex. what size chain do i need to get since im going to a smaller sprocket?i see all these diff types of chains. what is a good chain and a good price? i dont want the cheapest or the most expensive.

The stock length chain will work. I am running a 14T with the stock chain.

Stock length should work fine. Usually you dont need to add or take out a link unless you do serious gearing changes. The stock carrier has quite a bit of adjustment.
For chains, I really like the DID 520 X-ring ATV chain. It's a little beefier than their regular X-ring since ATV's are hard on chains. I got mine for under $70 from Rocky Mountain ATV. You might want to inspect your rear sprocket and consider replacing it now also.
