how many of you guys run swing arm skids in an MX race? Is it really necessary? There really isn't much for rocks or anything to hit is there?

I always used one. Maybe because we had to share the track with the bikes and the ruts and berms they produce. I've seen my share of pretzeled sprockets and bent rotors, and all those little lines on the track after the jumps where the rotors and sprockets dig into the ground. I just wanted to make sure I finished. Many people don't use them though. My 2 cents.

I would run the Stock one. It is nice and light, and will offer a little protection.

Remove the rubber chain slider from it for more weight savings.

the quad feels great on an MX track, im not running a skid plate because it take out some clearance. i dont know anyone really running one.

Have you picked one up off the bike? That thing is supriseingly heavy. I guess it is the steel inserts in it where the rotor and sprocket are.

I race MX and will never run without a skid plate...alot of the district tracks around here have gravel or large rocks and Its very common to see black skid plate marks on the jump landings where they scraped. If I only raced quad national tracks then maybe I'd take 'er off but I just ordered a AC rear skid.
