I just bought a +3" swingarm and I need to order a chain. In general, how many extra links is needed on your chain when you have an extended swingarm? I was thinking about each extra inch (+1") is about 2 links. So, does 6 more links sound about right?

Most often chains come in a few basic sizes. They don't stock 94-link, and 95-link, and 96-link, ect. Usually like a 94-link, a 102-link, a 112-link, and prices aren't too different.

I will point out a flaw in your logic, in that your chain needs to go out and back. So by your logic of 2 links per inch, you would need 12 more links.

Since you usually need to cut a few links off your chain when you buy it anyway, just get a chain that has 20 extra links and go from there.

Thanks for the reply. I meant that one link measured about an inch. Thus, an extension of 1 inch would require two links (top and bottom). That is how i got 6 links for a +3" swingarm. Anway, the place I am ordering the chain from, sells them by the link.....and each extra one is 50 cents. Anyone else?
