ok i got a question. i love the stock gearing on my 450R myself.. so if i was to put 18inch klaws on the back and 20in on the front.. everyone says it will be like dropping to a 13tooth i the front.. so my question is if i do put the smaller klaws on there. can i fit a 15 tooth front on it.. cause if at all possible i would like to get smaller tires and keep the same gearing.. thanks

Not sure about the 15t front but you could always go down on the rear several t. I know the front is much cheaper but if all else fails the rear is still an option

i think you will be happy with the gearing once you have dropped two inches in tires size in the back. the bike has a high first gear. i would ride it with the smaller tires before i changed my front sproket a tooth bigger.

Since finding a 15t front sprocket is going to be a challenge, I would also suggest running a 36t rear, it should feel close to the same, with the 18 inch rears

im not sure if its going to be a challenge, if my 400ex has a 15 tooth front..and it fits.. but thanks for the suggestion of a 36 tooth rear..so if i cant find a 15 tooth front, just get a 36 tooth rear. with the 14 tooth front and it should be about the same?

They trx450r runs a CRF front sprocket, with a 400ex rear sprockets, and i know my buddie in running 22" rears and went with a 13 tooth and is still sorta high for woods racing, what do u all think about a 12 tooth, We where thinking that puts alot of stress on teh chain to make it turn in such a tight circle what are some of your opnions??

The 15t front from an ex will not fit a 450r. Call sidewinder racing (they make the highest quality sprockets) if you want to go with a 15t for the front sprocket on your 450R.

If you want to go with 22inch rears, I would suggest a 13t/41 or 42 combo. The 13/42 with 22inch rears is roughly the equivelant of 13/38 with 20inch rears. I would not go with a 12t sprocket, due to the fact that it will increase your chances of throwing a chain.

I have a gear calculator that helps me do the calculations, if anyone is interested, I could email them it.
