250R shock on a 400ex

I was wondering if a 86 250R shock will bolt on a 400ex. I took some measurements and it looks dead on but any input would help.

yes they will, they are the exact same shock, atleast the stock ones are, and i believe the aftermarket ones are to, just a different valving

I was hoping for that. I have a fully adjustable axis shock that I can use. I am sure with as much adjustment as they give you I could make it work in the 400. Thanks

u talking front or rear, i know fronts work fine got them on my 400ex
but i thought a 250r rear shock would not work?

yeh, if ur talking abou the rear, it will not work!

I tried the rear and a 250r shock is 1 inch longer the the400. Also the top mounting is about 1/8 to wide. Oh well worth a shot. Now I have a axis rear shock for sale!
