Im wondering if the bike sold in Ca is different than the rest of the country. Had some dealers tell me (they werent positive) that it could have a smog pump on it? Can anyone confirm this???

No, they're confusing that with the power steering pump. If you look next to the air conditioning compressor, follow the lines past the EGR valve you'll see the oxygen sensor sitting next to the black box transmitter that feeds directly to the government monitoring satellites, which makes a smog pump unnecessary.

Sarcasm appreciated....lmao.......but it was a serious question....ive been told there are differences on all bikes sold in Ca, you guys from Ca? Are you riding a bike that was sold in Ca? I found a sweet deal on one out there is the only reason im asking....ive been turning wrenches since I was a kid and I thought it was bull**** too until I kept hearing it.
A local dealer here, who ive dealt with for years....told me if you go into the shop manual on some Hondas...it shows a Ca model with an air pump.. and NOT just street bikes. Its possible with CARB standards and california emissions there could be SOME difference. Thats all im asking.

All of the trx 450's are the same. Their is no california model. What they may be confused about is honda made the trx cali green sticker & noise compiliant. The on road bikes are cali models with a cannister, different cam(s) timing etc. Different from 48 state models.

I'm not sure on the 450r but on the Z400 the only difference is the fuel mixture screw on the carb is hidden by a brass cap.
The cap is easily removed if you need to make an adjustment.

Yep there is a California version!! Its Pink instead of red but they sell them in San Fran only!:D J/P:p
