I'm trying to decide how I want to build my FDO engine. I would like to hear some feedback from those of you who actually have their motor in your bike NOT your friend’s dad’s uncle’s bro.

6mm stroke-duh

13:1 piston? I really don’t care about using race gas so I pretty sure that this is the compression I will be going with. The head studs will be FDO heavy duty.

463 or 493 this is where it gets hard. Well should I go big and not have as many over bores? Or should I stay with the stock sleeve, and bore to 88mm but not have as much power? My goal with the rebuild is to spank 450s of both makes.

Carb? Will the 39mm FCR give the motor the air it needs or should I look at the 03 CRF dirt bike carb?

Cam? Is anybody running the HRC with their stroker?

i don't own theres but i did the powroll 4mm stroke and they suggested staying with a small piston. they told me the motors tend to get more slugish with a large bore. i will be running a 88mm piston so i'll be right at 450. not i just goota get it togther.

i'll be running 13:1 also ..i hope it holds up:D

Trust Mike to point you in the right direction. I'd go with his 473, 13 to1 , rod, full head work and his cam!

I ran his woods 463 last year. I loved it!!! It was built very tame! BSTURDIVENT I know he doesn't like to do 473's any more unless you already have a 440 and want to save money. on my 463 I just had some mild porting a slip in cam and stock carb. I was keeping the power in the low RPMS for GNCCs. and it was great for that. If you want to kick the crap out of 450's get his full built 493, do as he says. he gets huge HP out of ex motors!!!
