I picked up an old 3-wheeler awhile back and it doesn't have spark. I cleaned up all the connections with no luck. The previous owner decided it was a good idea to weld the flywheel to the crank so I can't clean the magnets. Is it even possible that anything behind the flywheel would prevent it from having spark. I'm sure I can get the weld off with a torch but I'll probably damage the stator.

Have you tried putting a meter on the lines coming out of the stator yet? When you give it a pull on the rope you should see some voltage coming out of there. I wonder why he welded the flywheel on anyway? Maybe the keyway is damaged or something? Can you grind the weld off so that the stator isn't damaged?
