The 2nd Round of the GNCC held during Bike Week in Palatka, FL which is conveniently located only about 1 hour from Daytona Beach, so many racers spend the time between round two and three enjoying the festivities of Bike Week.

The event is also conveniently located near the town and the roads are great. When you first arrive the track entrance, you will drive down a long straight driveway to the plantation house, which looks great with the trees surrounding it.

Unfortunately, this is where the good points end! The track itself is located in swamp :( Atleast this year they didn't receive as much rain as last year and the parking wasn't a mud bog, but the course itself wasn't much different from the year before, and I don't expect the track condition to ever be any better unless florida goes into a severe drought situation, which I doubt.

Many manufacturers are getting involved with the GNCC Series and finally bringing out some of their big rigs to the Events to support the riders :) which is extremely exciting.

Before the Morning Race, Mike Penland and I talked about how ATV racing is growing.

The rider registration wasn't long Sunday Morning because of the many riders registered Saturday for Practice. Also, Racer productions is requiring you to bring your helmet to registration!

Admin

The Morning Event had almost 200 entries which actually was about 25% more than last year, which should be great news to Racer Productions since some racers intentionally skipped this event because of damage that the black sand & water does to the quads.

Will Cashion was hoping for a repeat win after leading the overall in the previous event until the last lap.

The black sand sludge covered everyone after one lap made it very difficult to determine who was who during the race, so unfortunately I can't tell who most of the racers were in my pictures.

Women Class

Stephanie Parton lead the entire race for the Women's Class and Traci wasn't even within striking distance after she wrecked early into the 1st lap and twister her steering stem, so she had to race with the handle bars turned to go straight. After the 1st lap she was over one minute back, and tried to make up time in the 2nd lap.

Unfortunately, her charge was quickly slowed when she lost control and wrecked at high speed, and was thrown over the bars and ran over by her yfz. Fortunately for Traci, her helmet & Moose Gear saved her from being severly injured. She still suffered a fracture, bruises, and scuffs, but still got back on her Alba YFZ and continued to try to make up time. Again, she ran into a bottle neck where the track was under several feet of water. I saw her stuck as I floated my Z past her in the water up to my chest trying the keep the exhaust out of the water.

She came in to pit after the lap and Johnny G and Rick checked on her and Jeff removed her ripped up chest protector number plate.

Traci amazingly went on to finish the race with a fracture and finished an impressive 2nd and 21st Overall. He deterimination was incredible and I wish my great friend a speedy recovery! I am sure all the fellow EXriders.com members will be praying for you to get well soon :)

Traci, will be out for Georgia, but hopefully she will be back for Round #3.

Super Senior

Jay Condon played it smart on his Raptor and rode consistently the entire race and Won Senior Class. Jay is a firm believer in running 22" tires and at this track it definitly payed off for him.

Johnny Gallagher put in an incredible run at the end to trying to work his way back from a horrible 1st lap. He ran almost five minutes faster than the other riders the last two laps, but was only able to work his way back up to 4th place.
