when u buy the front shocks they will be set to ur exact weight u tell them... so no rebuilt or revalve there...

the rear shock coversion was 220$ for me to convert to SSD and then it cost me another 90$ i think to get it revalved to my weight and riding style...

so to answer u questions yes u need the rear rebuilt and revalved but the front u won't have 2... its good to rebuild them every year if u do alot of HARD riding or once ever 2 or 3 for the occassional trail rider... i had my old elkas for 2 years with no problems...

My rear shock is in the process of being converted by the quad shop. I went ahead and had it revalaved also, so it could be the same as the fronts. I figure if you shell out that much for fronts, you might as well make the rear perform to the best of its ability to match the fronts.

I ran Elka fronts for a while until I had my rear rebuilt and it worked ok, but having the rear setup for you matching the fronts makes a big difference. I would say it's well worth the money.
