I went for my first ride today to break in my 450, i noticed that when crusing in say...4th gear that when you gas it and load up the engine it gets rather noisy, anyone else notice this? I know its prob normal.

Yea.....mine does the same. It's been talked about before. I don't think it's anything to worry about. I'm pretty sure they all do it. I had someone in the woods last weekend mention it.

It seems like it is at low rpm levels. I am hoping that when I put my 13t on that it will stop some of it.

I was concerned with that at first also. I had never owned a four stroke until Jan 28th. Either the noise in my engine went away or I am so used to it now I don't even notice it any more. Don't worry about it.

i rode mine all weekend, it seems like when the engine bogs down when your a gear high, it sounds like the gears are chattering, kinda annoying. im sure its normal, but i am a little more happier i got the 4yr warranty!

Andy is right, it happens when ya bog it down, your just lugging it too much. The gearing being tall is the culprit, you need to gear down or feather the clutch or shift more.

I think this is rather common amongst the 4-strokes. My Cannondale did it and so did my Raptor. Lower the gearing and it'll go away. These small motors (relative to car engines) just don't make big torque down around 2k RPM so you need better gearing to keep the RPM's up when the speed is down.

I don't usally "bog" the engine, i do know how to shift and ride. I just noticed it while i was riding it to acheive the various load and rpm's that honda recommends to break the engine in.
