I need to know what an 400's chargine specs are while running. I have been having problems, I am putting brushes in the starter tonight but running it is charging between 12.5-12.7 volts after it gets warm. Seems a little low to me. I am worried that my stator or voltage regulator is going south.

Charger circuits will generally run in the 13.0v - 13.5v range. 12.7 should still be ok on the charging circuit. As long as its above 12v and below 13.5v anywhere above 13.5 and you start eating batteries. :(
