Will a sleeve for a 426 JE piston kit go right into the cylinder or will the cylinder have to be bored to except the sleeve like the 440 kits do?
Thanks
Brian

you can actually use the stock sleeve for a 426. not all sleeves are the same so you will have to check with the company for other questions.

Yea i know i can get the stock sleeve bored to a 426 but was told to use a 426 sleeve for reliablility issues and incase i have to bore it out again. So if anyone knows if the cylinder has to be bored to fit the sleeve, please let me know.
Thanks

i don't see how it would be possible to not bore the cylinder for the new sleeve to fit unless it was the same size as the stock sleeve. i know you can get some sleeves that fit 426's to 440's. however, boring the cylinder is required. i would just have someone install a new sleeve and stronger studs while you have it apart.

so if u get a 426 sleeve u can take the sleeve out when u rebuild and run the 426 in the stock cylinder without haveing to put another sleeve in or sumtin? or u can jsut put another sleeve in??

you need to run a sleeve. just not all of the sleeves are the same size. some you can run a 426 to 440, others you can run only up to a 426, etc. boring will be needed though.

ok lemme explain. If u run a sleeve in a 426 when it takes a crap and u need to rebuild it, can u just take the sleeve out and press a new one in and continue to run a 426? or do u have to take the sleeve out and run it without a sleeve still at a 426.

A 426 bore in a stock cylinder is fine. I had that done to my motor and is was awesome, but I missed a shift from 5th down to 4th and my rod blew

You can run a 426 on a stock sleeve....blow it up..buy a 426 sleeve..bore the actual jug out..run another 426...blow it up then bore to a 440 with the same sleeve.

well you can't exactly run it without a sleeve :huh i don't think the aluminum jug would hold up very long

if your running a 426 on the stock sleeve and it takes a crap you have two options either A. buy another stock sleeve and press it in and bore her out to a 426 or B. buy a 426 sleeve and have your jug bored to accept it once you bore the jug you can't go back to the stock sleeve without replacing the jug
