450R vs. PRED

i haev this little dilemma

I alreayd just got a 04' kfx 400

Now i am giong to get a 2nd one ....

it is between a 04' 450R and a 03 or 04' TL Predator.

which one would be the best in drags and overall power/speed /overall better machine???

Gee Dill, what do you expect to hear at a Honda site? All you will hear will be 450R!

Go ask the same question an a Pred board, guess what the answer will be???

i've looked at some predators, wouldn't be to bad to try one out. they look pretty good. the R would be the most perfered choice of everyone here, but i would say try out the predator.

My buddy loves his Predator and it is jsut plain fast. I have never seen him lose. Now, we have seen any one with an R up here yet but I have watched him wipe a few YFZ 450s. I believe it is all about which one you like the best and are most comfortable on.

If you are looking for the fastest quad go with a yfz or 450r pretty even. The pred wont be close stock vs stock. best for mx yfz. best for cross country 450r. the pred sucks and you will wish you had bought one of the other two. BTW the pred supension is awful.

Last weekend I watched some drags up in Florence, and the Preditor was looking really sad. They lost to all the banshees, lost to the two YFZ, one of which was about 3-4 bike lengths slower than the other YFZ. Lost to the Raptors, lost to the 250R. It did beat the TRX400EX.

The Predator wasn't looking too good.

I think you already know what you want....you just want some reassurance that the 450r is better......well it is many ways. If you are going to just drag, maybe the predator will be good, i've heard that there are some fast ones out there(plus having a 50cc advantage doesn't hurt) as far mx, and xc the 450r or the yfz are the best choices...the more versitile atv out of the 2 you asked is the 450r and has the potential to be a very fast drag racer!!

One of the guys I ride with regularly just bought an 04 preditor. In stock trim, it will absolutly leave the stock YZF in the dust. The suspesion is superior in almost every way and it absolutly eats up the desert. He has now jetted and piped his pred and he runs neck and neck almost all the bikes on the beach. If I wasn't such a die hard Honda fan, my next bike would be a Preditor.:cool:

The predator is a fast bike and you can make it really fast with some mods but I am not so sure about the frame geometry and the steering. I don't like the way it feels but thats just me I think all three bikes are a good choice but I think the edge in handling is with the 450r or yfz

So I guess the Predators don't run too bad? A buddy of mine just bought one. It's stock and I know he won't do anything to else to it. I'm sure we'll line em up sometime.

I have a 03 predator and an 04 450r. The predator has been jetted and has a pure polaris pipe. The 450r was stock when we raced. The 450r won every time. I think the predator turns better and its a blast to ride. It seems to run best in the sand. Im nor sure which bike I like best yet.
I just had the hrc kit installed and have been dissapointed. It seems to bog down on the low end now and dosnt pull the front end up like it used to. Im not sure if the carb needs adjusted or whats going on for sure. The honda dealer put the cam in. I put the other parts on myself before the cam went in and it didnt bog down then. Im going back to see if they know anything.
Either bike is good but the predator is cheaper. I guess it just depends on what you want.

I may have to agree about the geometry problems on the Pred. My friend says it feels like he is leaning too far forward all the time. When I ride it I also experience a similar sensation. I think this could easily be corrected with an extended stem and taller bars. As far as the power goes, I really don't think it can be beat. He rode a couple of YZF's before purchasing his pred, and he dicided the powerband on the YZF was not as manageable. I also have to admit that all of these races ave been in the sand at Pismo. Maybe results would be different in the desert.:D

BUMP>>>>I'm down to these 2 quads. Like someone else said, the new '05s have raised bars....this is a tough one. What would be the better play bike? No organized races etc.?? Mtn trails and such? It'll proabably come down to who has the better financing deal. The '05 pred is $950 cheaper than the R....

I raced a piped predator down the shore and smoked him and I have a stock 450r. I think its pathetic that a 450 can beat a 500 in a drag esp a piped one. I did it over and over p p'd all over it. lol Personally I wouldnt waste my money on a predator Id get a 450r or yfz.

I own both a 450r and a pred:

power to wait ration the 450 takes it max speed it doesnt though. but just get bigger tires or gear the 450 higher and u will tkae the pred throug the whole run!

the predator i think is by far the best stock quad thats why i bought it to do some rec/fmx riding with it and not dump money into it. 450R is the way to go;)
