ive heard you can run the 400ex w/o a base gasket has anyone tried this...thanks

Yes, you can. I used some hi-temp RTV sealant just be careful to not plug the oil passage. I did mine with RTV and found my cam was starving for oil do to a little blockage...

Yes, it will work, but be careful.

i believe it gives you alittle more compression... not positive.

Yes it will raise the compression by moving the head closer to the piston. I would check your valve-to-piston clearance also before you run it.

with modeling clay.seriously put some on the piston enough to cover it put it together and turn it over (BY HAND) a few times dissasemble and cut were the valves endented and measure the thickness. thats the way i know>

my friend runs no base gasket right now with good success. he used a really thin film of high temp rtv sealant.

thanks guys i knew it would raise the compression i just wanted to know of any problems in advance...
