View Full Version : 450r fronts shocks on 300ex with 400ex a-arms??

right now i have a 300ex
with 400ex a-arms and shocks
does anyone know if 450r front
shocks would bolt up with my 400ex front end??

They'll fit but your going to have to grind down the top of the shock to make it fit in the shockmount.

they will fit but you do need to grind the top bearing down

jeff its amazing how many times u tell these morons 450r shocks won't work... 400ex front ends have bumpsteer etc... i just sit back and laugh and feel bad for ya man... they just can't seem to listen...


in another post i had one kid tell me i need to know what i'm talkin about... bc i said 450r shocks won't fit a 400... just because they bolt up don't mean they work!!!!!!!!:o

they mite fit but the valving and every thing will be off.;) if ur not serious into racing and just play ride it would be fine and probaly be better then stock.:o

The valving is way off. Also something about the stroke ratio, I think.

i tried the 400ex a-arms with 250r shocks deal.. it didnt fit right, and it didnt look like it would ride right. so i left it as it was. Ill stick with the way it was stock..

I think the point everyone is trying to make is just because a part bolts on does NOT mean it will work better. Putting a 400ex frontend on a 300ex changes the ergonimics all around and then adding another honda part from another model quad is just changing it around even more and probably not for the good. You might as well go get a warrier swingarm, a blaster pipe, a z400 carb and bolt all that one too. I"m sure it will all fit, might work and run like crap but hey it fits...:huh
