think i should take my stock 400EX a arms to the local metal shop n get them turned into +2's then get them powercoated? it would probly save me 400 bucks or would they turn out pieces of S***

Well I did that w/ my 300 stockers, made them +3 & they work GREAT!!! Well I think thye do anyway LOL ;) I can send you a pic if you want. Just make sure the welder knows what they are doing as fas as measuring them right & all that. My welder/fabricator does desert racers,did a few blasters, 400's, & makes some dang nice buggies so he's all good!! I think it's a good way to go if you don't have the $$ for aftermarket ones.

do you extend after the shock mount ( tire side ) or before (frame side )???

what kind of steel do you use???

would +3's work if im racing mx, cuz they may b a couple inches too wide, wat do u thnk about custom swing arms?

If you race mx, please forget this idea before you get hurt, you can break your stokers even at the stock lenght, so at +3 I think it would be quite dangerous, but it all depends on what size of jumps you are hitting anyway.

If you cannot afford aftermarket a-arms, just wait and try to collect the money you need, it will be cheaper in the long run, not to mention alot better too.

i will get the customs made then i will get some beter a arms wen my sponser sponsers me but i duno i may keep the stockre son there

yeah but what if you use a diffrent materiel?

It would be hard to use different materials, like 4130, because 4130 is much denser and melt much slower than mild steel like the one used for stock a-arms, so it would be hard to weld those steels together correctly. You may use something like 1045, but it contain lots of carbon and is also harder to weld than mild steel.

i made +3+2 lt a-arms that are identical to gibson, and a +1.5 tubular swingarm I have pics but I cant post them
