I JUST PICKED UP MY 450R FROM THE DEALER AND I HAVE A QUESTION.

Is it normal for the oil light to be one 3-4 seconds after the motor is cranked up ????

It was raining when i picked it up so I havent had a chace to rid it yet....

The light comes on that long so you can notice it. If you start the bike and don't see the light then the light is burnt out and it won't be able to warn you........

And it is a temp light not an oil light. It does that so you know it is functioning properly. If you don't see it you need to fix it.

What if I eliminated the key switch by unplugging it altogether? I ran my tether in between the wires from the on/off switch. Did I just cut power to anything electrical besides the lights? Fan, temp light etc...

If you unplug the switch all together it will just not send power to the light, fan, carb warmer, etc. Will still run though.

Since I am using the 450R primarily for MX racing do I even need the fan?

probably not. Mine is getting lost when I put my quad back together.

Also if you hook the Black and Red wires together when you remove the Key switch then the Light will still work...

When I put mine back together I'm going to put the temp light to the fan switch that way if it starts getting hot enough to kick the fan on it will turn the light on. That way I will know if it is getting to hot or not.
