i know alot of you on here are really good with computers well i recently started having problems connecting to the internet on my laptop it wont connect and the computer locks up i press ctrl alt del and there is something running called oocfwm[not responding] so i click end that task but i still cant get on the net, i go to my startup thing in the menu and oocfwm is there. i went to add/remove files and saw that it was there i did a google search just a minute ago and saw that this is indeed a virus i have no antivirus on my laptop so could i just delete the file and be done with it? please if you can help me or have had similar problems reply here. thanks a ton in advance

Go to Either Staples or Circit City and buy either AVG or Norton install and run it you should have the Virus dected soon after u install, AVG is better than norton so if u can get AVG

Well the best thing to do is clear hard drive....Youll run all these programs and there is a good chance later down the road this will happen again and then u will probably have to format so might as well do it now unless its brand new if so take it back and see what the company can do....

I could email you Stinger, that should get rid of it. Not sure if you can get email on that machine if not you can copy stinger to a floppy and run it from that. Let me know what your email address is and I'll send it.

go to add/remove programs and delete it and if it doesn't show up type in those words and it should bring something up and delete it there may be like 4 or 5 of them its prolly from something you downloaded and it prolly downloaded on top of that..happens with this program called gator to

Be careful, just because you deleted one file from your startup doesn't mean you have removed all aspects of the virus. It could have different registry hooks as well.

just an FYI, again if you want I can email you Stinger, that should remove it for you.
