The stock front shocks on 400ex's are adjustable right? how do i adjust the preload?

twist them till the lower knotch is in the deepest part all the preload is out then if stiffer is what you need do the oppisite I like the softest setting best.

i tryed turning it, but it wont budge....
I did a search and theres some places that sell tools for doing this?? do i need one?? kinda silly..

no you dont need a special tool

just take a flathaed screw driver or a chizzle with a hammer and knock it where you want to go it works

Channel locks with a rag (so they don't scratch) works great.

yeah i used channel locks to adjust mine when i had stock shocks too.

What about the preload on the rear shock, I want to soften it.
I tried a big screwdriver/hammer with oil, but it still wont move.

The stock Rear 400ex spring is for a 180 pound rider.

This is how i have mine set up it works great. A friend of mine had to change his spring, he was around 220 the spring was only $40 but make a big differnce.
