i'm looking for a cheap upgrade on my motor (416 probably), the main thing i do with my 400 is joy ride and drag race (since my ATP is so comfortable to ride, and my ATC200S is alot of fun too), no racing, no MX, no XC, just drag racing Scrambler 400's and Z400's, and an occasional Raptor,,,looking for a bore kit that will let me use stock oil cooler, stock CDI, stock clutch, stock head pipe,,,looking to spend as little as possible and there is a shop close by that can bore the cylinder and stuff. also i need to use the stuff that i currently have in my sig.

Thanks,

Trav

416 high compresion pistion, stage 2 hotcam, and port and polished. If you wanted to spend the extra $, than go with the 440, but from what it sounds like a 416 would be fine:macho You could get all of this for around $300...maybe a little more.

yeh u can get away with pump gas on a 10.8:1 thats a good ratio. Like rico said in another thread there are MANY ways and combonations of 416s or any other bore. But yeh that would work.

Will the stock carb work with this set up?

How would that combo be for reliability? I'm doin' up the wifes 400 as a spare bike, in case mines down. It would need to be bullet-proof. Would definetly want to run pump gas.

If it does right, it will last a long time. You will want to go with the 10:8.1 piston for pump gas, but it will have to be 93 octane. If I had the extra $, that is exactly what I would get done to mine. Also the stock carb will work with this set up, but a larger, aftermarket carb will add more hp.

nope. You will need race gas for that.
