k & n filter ????

just got my k&n filter, and noticed that the part that clamps onto the inside of the air box is metal not rubber????? is this right???

dont have my 400ex here to check it out, but i thought its a rubber boot that clamps to air box.????

It is correct.

YOu might want to cut off the 2 little tabs that stick up in the bottom of your airbox also or they will rub holes in your new filter...:eek:

It's OK to remove them. I did it on mine 3 years ago with no problems to this day. Also put some grease around the airboot were the filter slides in..:cool:

Get an outerwears for it also if you haven't already.

yep, my friend cut the tabs in his air box too because they were cutting his outerwear.

I haven't cut mine yet, and they tore holes in my outter wear. I am going to cut them here soon:)

The tabs don't give me a problem but the snorkle rubs holes in the outerwares:( That problem will be eliminated soon though;)

Sounds correct! Also I am sure you know but I would definately get an outerwear for that new filter. It will help keep it much cleaner!:p
