I stayed in st. ignace, and rode to mackinaw island a couple of times. I also road to serveral towns up there including trout lake. I did about 200 miles of riding. The blue srx is my new snowmobile I just picked up. It has lots of suspension, chassis and engine tricks done to it.

Challenged a few muscle sleads at the hotel to some races but no takers. I really wanted to race a 1000 thundercat. He just said "no thanks". My slead is alot quicker then a standard srx, and I'll just leave it at that.

I had a beach front room at the holiday inn express. You could ride right from there to the island across the ice. It's about 6 miles, and they line a path with pine trees to the island. I took pictures of the grand hotel, mainly because they spazz if you even ride a bycicle in front of it. Arch rock, the school, and mackinaw bridge. There were bars and restaraunts open on the island, but no fudge shops. All kinds of hot snowmobile babes (my age even for a change!:p ) I had ALOT of fun this trip. I rode with relatives of mine, they are an arctic cat family. I still have the xlt, but I let my brothers wife use it. They stayed in paradise I believe.

Anyone who ever has the chance to go snowmobiling up here should take the chance because it was a blast. Lost of snow up north if there are any snowmobilers looking at this, so it's still not to late to go.

Thanks again cleanshave
:p

Nice pics 86350x. If I ever get this camera finished up I'll post mine from Gaylord when I was there the 7th and 8th. Looks like you had a good time. I've been liking those srx's more and more. They seem to be getting down in price too. Maybe I'll have to look into one. I'd say watch out for a Thundercat though. I've ridden one that was properly set up, and WOW. It was awesome. I'll take my Mach Z for speed though. It seems to run with those big cats pretty easy.

Take a look at the new Skidoo Mach Z 1000 in the new RT Chassis. They're awfully nice.

Pretty sure you can rent sleads up there, They'd be listed in the phone book. Thunder cats don't scare me:D

Not too sure how I feel about the whole rev thing yet, if I got to ride one longer I would probrably like it more. Motor wise a rev800 doesn't even compare to my srx.

It's an 01, motor wise, BENDER that's all I'm saying

Chassis wise, ohlins clickers, m10 rear, transfer rods, different ski's, lots of titainium and andonized aluminum parts. Snow cross runners to your feat don't slip. I run 192 studs with andonized blue backer plates. It has a cold air intake,v-force reeds, bender silencer to go with the tripple pipes. And a Maximum performance clutch. Srx's are fast stock, it's too bad yamaha quit making them. There are alot of other things done to the slead, but I'm not gonna say what, I'll have more detail pics later on.

Thanks for sharing pics, and by all means keep adding to the thread. I always enjoy other peoples pics also. Riding on the island is a trip, you guys have to try it.

I wish I would have got some pics of the 6 ft tall blonde (with some nice features) at the hotel. You guys would have loved to see that one:D

Quick question, how did you get to the island...was the lake frozen enough to ride the snowmobile's over there?

Gets a little hairy going across the bridge in high winds.

Besmer,Mi and Hurley Wisc has some great trails and jiggy bars too.

I might be picking up a ZR440 this weekend for a grand, then probably head up to Northern Wisconsin where I used to live and go riding with my cousins.

Btw- my uncle has a 800 Thundercat, last weekend he rode up a vertical wall of snow, I can't remember if he said 15 ft or something else...anyway, riding behind those things suck, 2" paddles...crack open the throttle and you have a 20ft high wall of snow roost heading down on you..freaky sh*t:eek2:

Yeah, i've been to mackinac maannny times with the fam and a couple of school trips. Did you get to ride anywhere you wannted on the island? How about those steep roads man! Me and my friends took the highest road up on bike and one of my friends went striaght down it w/o breaks and he started veiring off the road and he tried to correct it and *BOOM* he was down, rolled the rest of the way down the road. The only bad thing is the whole island smells like horse chit! Otherwise, i love it there :macho

All my sleds are vintage sleds. My newest one is a 77 AC 5000 Series Panther (500cc). My oldest one I believe is a 70 Puma...we have about 8 Artic Cats lieing around, only 4 run lol. The funny thing is that my 73 440 Panther beats my friends 95 Z440 in acceleration....:huh

You can ride almost everywhere, those steep roads aren't so steep on a snowmobile. The cross country skiers probrably didn't like the loudness of my machine, lol oh well though.

I don't have any srx big air pics yet, but I think I have old photo's of jumping my xlt somewhere.

The ice was supposably 12 inches thick, nobody broke through that day. Just stay on the gas and keep moving and you will be fine. It doesn't freeze over every year though, so I was lucky.

I have alot of vintage sleads, but no time to ride them. I have 2 snow jets, a john deere liquifire 440, a polaris txl 340 (very rare and it's built up) I gave that to my mom. A couple of moto ski's, 2 johnson ski horses, and a ski doo olympic. And I still have my xlt special. I'm not against any manufacture or year of slead. I'll ride with anyone, and it's the same way on 2 3 and 4 wheels also.

Just be happy to have something to ride and have fun on. I'll have to check out your pics when I get home from work mofo. My times up, gotta jet.

Hey they finally worked, what boat did you take across? The arnold line went from the slowest boat, to the fastest.

Jiggly rooms? If your in the up, go over the bridge and check out studio 10 hotel. They have a shower in there also.

The diamond or something like that is another one.

actually we took all 3 boats across during the week we were there... My favorite was the line with the rooster tail...I forget the name of the line....they were not the fastest, but the rooster tail sucked me in and got the majority of my business... :D
