I can get the 440 kit for around 220 but do these kits work well with stock cams? Also I was wondering what you all would recomend as far as reliability. I've got stock gearing except for the front sproket 14t. I would like to get more power for little money. What does it take to build a 416? The 440kit is 11:1. Will this work with stock internals. I know it long but I need to know... Thanks

if your budgeted right now i dont think a engine kit would be good. you are lookin at around at least 600 and that is puttin it together ur self. but for 220 all u get is a piston rings and a sleve i believe. u still need to get ur head bored and get the sleve pressed in the stock cam wont do much good at all either.

I have the 11:1 440 kit and it runs great. I had no modifications to the gearing and the 14t sprocket works great. The 440 has a lot of power but I'm not too sure about 416's.

All you need for a 416 is a 11.5:1 JE high comp piston, get your cylinder bored to accept the piston, and a gasket kit. Should be able to do all the above for less than $225. Then later, get a head port, cam, hd cam springs, clutch, and that thing will rock!;)

Oh, don't forget a Service manual if you're doing it yourself!!

How much does it cost to get the bigbore sleve put in? $225 for the kit so it cost $400 to put it in??? That sounds alittle steep. Where can I find the pistons for a 416 and what boring needs to be done do the cylinder.

I love my 416 we built this winter,
I feel that the 440 give u just a little more tourque, but the 416 raps up so much quicker, im running weisco 11:1 piston, hotcams stage 1, dynojet 170 main stock piolt, rev box, and some slight port and polishing, white brother full system exhaust e-series.

my buddie has a slight problem with his 440 blowing head gaskets, and he had to end up grinding down the dow pins just a little bit to get it flush all the way around.

if i where u i would buy my suspension first, and then go motor!! i wish that is what i did!!!
