I have a 400ex what is a good mod for $200 i need some thing that will improve the performance i dont have alot of money for some thing big till the fall. would the hrc cam be a good idea if thats all i do.

I would go with Hotcams stage 2. You could go stage one but looking at your sig with the fcr carb a stage 2 would make more power. Then if you wanted to you could get a 416 or a 426 piston kit for 150 or so.

What do you mean do it right? To get your motor bored wouldnt be that much. Then you just install the piston.

i mean every thing to make it reliable valves, clutch any other things its needs

For $300 you can get a drop in cam, high comp. piston, and all your gaskets. Probably get the cylinder bored also..:cool:

With $200 stick with the basics............filter w/jet kit, you can prob find a nice used pipe for bout $150 or so. take the lid off the air box and this will work nice. and its simple mod for a new 400ex owner to do. u can even drop in a time'n key for like $20.

when you got some more cash, work on suspension. IMO anyway?

hes already got a pipe and a carb. So if he gets a drop in cam and a piston then the motor will rip.

Actually i heard from all the dealers is that the stock one is the best.

What brand pistion cam do you recomend and what compression for pump premim gas

JE or ROSS will be your best bet for a piston. I think like 10:8.1 is what you want for 93 pump gas. I have heard that the 11:1 will run on pump gas, but not to the full potental. I would also recommend a Hot Cam stage 2:macho
