for a 250R, what would be the best a-arms setup for mx. +2, +2+1, +3+1????? and i how ever wide i go up front do i need to also go that wide in the rear with a new axle(Ex: +2 a-arms and +2 axle). also i am running a 1987 250R and i want to keep the stock length swingarm which is longer than the 88' and 89' model so would i need to go forward on the a-arms or not?

Personally I perfer to run +3+1 a-arms on my quads. it won't hurt you to run the +1 forward arms with the longer swing-arm, you will probably up grade the swing-arm later anyway because that longer swinger is gonna cause you to loose traction and not corner as well.

with the +3 +1 a-arms, how wide would this make my 250R over all?

Depends on the off set of the wheels.

+3+1 arms w/ 3+2 wheels will be about 49-50

+3+1 arms w/ 4+1 wheels will be 47-48ish

+2+1 arms w/ 3+2 wheels will be 47-48ish

You don't reall wanna go too much narrower than 47" for MX.

I have a whole MX front end for sale, shocks and arms, it's on ebay right now. I'm willing to split it up and reason with the prices..

I run +4+1 arms w/ 3+2 rims, but my frame is a narrow Laeger. I'm 51" at the lowest ride height setting on my shocks. I'll probly run it so I'm 50 on the dot.

If you have the money, go with +3 +1 long travel and 4-1 offset.

Do these figures work with the 400ex too or just the 250R ?

It's relatively the same. stock Honda front rims are between 4+1 and 3+2, so go get the stock width for a 400EX, and do the math.

3+2 on +3's on a Z should be about 49-50"
