What kind of different gains am i going to get from a overbored high comp piston (.40) and cam, compared to a std. bored high comp piston and cam?
Also what all is envolved in bumping up to a 416, size overbore etc.?

you will see a nice diffrence in the power.
40 over is only a 406. a 416 is .080 over. all you need is to bore the cylinder. pretty simple.

there is very little to gain by actually overboring the motor. You really don't need bore the engine unless it needs it (scaring). That way if you seize it up later, you CAN still bore it a size over. Have a machine shop spec out the cylinder jug for you, that will indicate weither a bore job is needed

here is the overbore specs (approximately)
.040 over = 406
.080 over = 416
.120 over = 426

where you see the power is with the rise in compression ratio. At a minimum, if you are looking to gain power and/or add a cam, look at a 10.8:1 piston. Many here run 11:1 on pump gas with minimal problems.

As far as the cam....where are you looking to gain power? How much reliability are you willing to loose? There are SEVERAL different cams out there to choose from. From mild...all around power boost, to WILD....drag cam, mx cam, low end cam......

Do a search! There is WEALTH of info here about the different cams. I'm bettin 99.98% of the questions you have...they've already been answered.

So would a Je 10:8:1 piston and hot cam stg 2 be good change in power, and will i need a new gasket?
