A little more info on the 450R....

I have a HRC450R with K&N (soon to be 550R) and dragged my 502EX on couple mile flat dirt fireroad in PA. My brother hopped on my 502 and I rode my HRC450R. The 502 smoked the HRC450R by alot! The HRC450R was never in the front from the start of the race to the finish in every drag. Since I've had my 502 for years there was no reason to swap quads for different riders. I was obvious to me that the 450R could never catch up to the 502. Great news for the ol' 400EX'ers, huh?

just thought someone might want to know.

There's no way it did that Chad. I've read the new honda is like 95 HP and will beat anything it's up against...:eek2:

:D :D

I'll probably eventually buy one myself, but I'm wondering how many riders out there sold their nice 400ex to buy a new 450 only to find out they still suck at riding and didn't get any faster... LOL

Not all of us have access to Nascar people or make custom pistons for our rides! It's not hard to see how you won.
Add some nitrous to the 450r and you might get a run for your money.:D

And an equally built-up 300EX will probably smoke a 400EX...

Yea true that but my friends bro has a 300 ex with only a white brothers e series full exhaust and his quad and my 400 with a T4 were about equal down the road. That was untill i did my motor work....

But yea basically the only reason i am getting the new 450 is because my 400 is gettin worn out and instead of gettin a new 400ex just hop up to the 450 and do some damage in quad novice. But i still love my ex tho, its sexy:)

guys, he making a simple statement, that you dont have to get rid of the 400ex to be competitive.

whats cheaper?

selling a decked out 400 for $3500 and buying a 450r and spending another 3 grand in shocks, swingarm, bumper, skids, exhaust,a-arms,and so on

or

spending another 3000 on the 400 and having it keep up with the 450r.

if my maths right.

400ex plus 3k for a 450r plus another 3k for aftermarket stuff= 9000
400ex plus 3500 for awsome motor = 3000

Exactly what hot dog just said.

WTF are all you babies crying about. he just made a staement. he didn't put down your ultra sensitive 450R. Why would he? he has one himself. and he is going to build it up too I am sure. It just doesn't make sense some of the stuff you idiots get mad about. and the viper motor pinto stament makes NO SENSE WHAT SO EVER.

Your missing all the money for skids, shocks, swingarm bumper exhaust and so on for your stock 400ex with an awesome motor....lol

I have 14 grand in my 416 and my 450 is almost up to par as far as geometry goes, but the 450 still weighs less and it beats it.

2 miles? At what point is a drag race no longer a drag race? You might need to retune those bad boys if it takes 2 miles to whind them out. How do we call to find out if that is a record?

I'm just teasing with you chad! Good luck with the 550R!

but if you already have a 400ex, why would go let it go for so cheap and have to put all that money into a new one. your better off putting the money into a motor.

joking aside, i dont know if its such a big jump(400ex to 450r). If you had an EX that was modded to death, i suggest keeping it

Agree. I sold my 2003 400EX and bought the R. If I had to do it over again I would still have the 450R but I just trail ride for fun, it didn't help me out that much. It's nice to be able to say I have one.

The same amount of money the 450R will be worth in four years when its modded to death.

It's part of it man:)
