i used the oil cooler of a 1998 grizzly. i just cut the banjo line running from the case to the head and connected the lines to them. you can run the cooling fan from the grizzly too. it worked pretty good

None of the oil coolers for a 300ex require drilling or tapping. Your thinking of the 400ex.

Jagg makes one for $200 bucks that replaces your oil filter cover.

Four Stroke Tech makes one for about $100 bucks that requires you to cut the oil line in half running to the head.

Or you can purchase a auto transmission cooler for $35 bucks and buy all the tubing/fittings yourself and run it off the oil line like FST oil cooler setup.

Four Stroke Tech coolers have turbulator fins for more effecient cooling compared with a regular auto transmission cooler.

yeah the jaggs cooler is a direct bolt on, and it works great. Or you can get any other cooler and just cut you banjo line and run it through that. If you have the money i recommend buying the jagg or the fst

I need some helpwith this. With the auto tranny coolers u cut the oil banjo bolt in half right? Then which end of the rubber hose goes on which half of the banjo bolt (top or bottom). Then u run the hose out to the cooler and take the other part of hose and connect it to the other half of the banjo bolt. Hope thats not too confusing.

You cut the black oil line if half running to the head. Then unscrew the bolts at each end of the line a couple of turns, rotate the lines you just cut towards the front of the quad, retighten the bolts and slip the oil hoses over the lines. To do this right you should also replace the sealing washers that are on each of the two oil line bolts to make sure it doesn't leak upon retightening. I don't believe it matters which oil hose connects to which side of the cooler.

Aceman has got his info right! I'm not sure of FST's website but im sure you can find it in a search. Jaggs is www.jagg.com, here a pic of the jagg oil cooler.

THis is what bolts onto the oil filter cover.

The FST cooler works and it almost works too well. If you're going to run it I highly suggest that you run hardweld rocker arms and a new cam. If you use the stockers you'll find that the oil is so cool when it hits your rocker arms the chroming tends to flake off and then you can kiss the hardning on the cam and the rockers good bye. It's a good cooler and it works what more can I say. I ran it for a year and found out the hard way that you should replace the rockers. Just a little info.

I've never heard of an oil cooler wearing down the cam/rockers before. I have yet to install my cooler, just haven't had the time. Until I hear from other people that there oil cooler ruined their stock cam/rockers I have a hard time believing it.

FST no longer has a website. If you do a search you can find their number on here somewhere.

I talked to dunlap a while back about it and he said I'm not the only person he's heard of it happening to. But I do gotta say with his engine kit he does strongly suggest replacing the rocker arms with his hardweld ones. This is probly why. If I still had the old parts around I would post the pictures but they are long gone in the trash. Oh well no hard feelings.

I wasn't mad or anything, I just never heard anyone having a problem with their oil cooler like that before. Things like that are definitely good to know, considering I haven't installed my oil cooler yet with my stock cam/rockers. Thanks for the tip.:)

I dont think it would be a problem with stock cam and rockers. But i know a 300ex will chew up a set of stock rockers quick with an aftermarket cam.
