450R carb

anyone try the 450r carb on the 400ex? its a 42mm that might be a bit over kill on the 400.

from what i hear, the 450r carb isnt very good. the crf carb is much better. they even ran the crf carb on the trx450r in the baja 1000 that it won. so i would go with a fcr39, fcr40 (crf carb), or a fcr41.

I haven't heard that it isn't very good. I don't think anyone has had enough time to figure out if it isn't any good or not yet. It just isnt' an FCR.

sorry i didnt mean to say it wasnt very good at all, but i meant to say it wasnt really worth modifying it to work on a 400ex when the fcrs work about as good as anything. and from what ive heard the fcrs work better. the reason honda didnt put a fcr on the 450r, is because the fcr is a flat slide carb which has more possiblility to stick, which is why they have a push pull twist on the bikes. this is what i have heard, and take it for what it is, i could be totally wrong.

It's all cool!:D It's just someone makes a comment like that then everyone on the forum starts saying and spreding that it is a crappy carb when that may not be the case.

Anyway I have heard something about the push/pull cable for sticking resons but I don't see why. The carbs have little rollers on the slide so they mover real nice and all. I think if you have a TRX450R carb for really cheap it may be worth while over the stocker but if you are going to spend much money on one I'd probably just get an FCR.
