Thanks 300exrida, that has enough room so you do not hit the resi on the chain?

that will be good enough unless you don't bottom out every time....you have to bottom the shock out to the fullest for it to hit actually....it will be good

i almost wore a hole in mine mounting it like that. I have mine different, but i have a 250 and no battery, so im not sure if it will work for you also.

I did re route the line after this, up and over the inside frame rail. Slipping off the air box helps a ton as I found out, duh me. I tried to get it up as high as possible away from the chain. I tried to get it into another position but couldn't get it in any other way.

You can also mount it on the right side of the bike by the exhaust. My old raptor shock's rezzy hose came off to the right instead of the left, therefor making it so I had to mount it on the right side. You can put it on the frame rail by the exhaust. Jet make sure you dont bend the hose. Then zip tie in place

I noticed that one of you guys said that your rezzie hose came off of the right side of the shock but the rest including mine come off the left side. Can I just loosen the banjo fitting that holds the hose to the shock and move it to the other side or will that cause the pressure to leak out of the shock thus ruining it? I'm not sure I even need to do it but I was just curious.

Yeah if you loosen it you will lose the gas pressure then the shock will need to be recharged plus any air removed from the shock.

I fugured that, that's why I asked. Thanks!

If you loosen the line you will lose oil not gas pressure. You can just barely loosen it and maybe get it to turn. But if you see any oil coming out then tighten it back up. If you loose a drip or two it will be just fine!

excellent, I need to turn it just a little. What about taking that line off altogether? can I do that too or will I lose too much oil? If I could switch hose ends, everything would fit perfectly. One end of the hose has a bend and the other doesn't. By the way, I installed the shock today with the raptor spring and it rides nice. Landings are so much softer now! I did have to grind a little of the frame on the bottom of where the shock bolt goes through. It was hitting the top of the shock.

Don't think you can take it off all the way, I also just barely loosened mine to turn it and seemed fine. I was running mine with the 400 spring for a softer and lower ride and never bottomed it and I am 195. The raptor spring is a good choice for more jumping and stuff. I groung a little of the shock for clearance.

You can not take it all of the way off or you will loose most of your oil and displace it with air!

This is great! We're putting ours on now and I'm dealing with the same resi trouble. Found out last night I was going to have to do some grinding. The resi really needs to be turned and I was curious about the gas loss by loosening up the banjo fitting. Good info! Right now, we've got the motor apart and the air tube is out of the way. Anyone think of mounting it there? I saw some wear marks on the frame, underneath the tube, but can't remember what it was that may have been sitting on it.

Quadfamily, how much does the rider weigh using the Raptor spring? I read for someone under 160, use a 400EX spring. Which as of now, I'm doing.

rider is me, 220 lbs plus gear. Someome else said the raptor spring worked well with a 195 lb rider. I read somewhere that it was under 200lbs use the 400EX spring. I guess the springs are fairly close anyway. I have my preload cranked all the way up. I haven't ridden it enough yet to try any compression and rebound adjustments.

Right now, we are modding the 300 and my 400. I've got both shocks apart and the 400EX spring is about an 1", or a little more, shorter than the Raptor. The result is almost no preload on the 400 spring on the Raptor shock. The 400 spring is a tad softer than the Raptor... using the spring in the gut against the workbench technique. :D Thanks Q!

Yea I rode mine like I said before with the 400 spring cranked all the way. the bike sat really low and the handling was great. I never really hit any "large" jumps but the ones I did never even came close to bottoming out.
I liked the softer ride and I was around 195 to 200 w/gear. Never much messed with the settings cause the guy i bought it from had it on his 300 and kinda dialed it already.
I thought about fabbing up a spacer ring to raise it up a little but never got to it before my wreck and selling the 300.

If you want to know the exact spring rates of each spring I have a program I made up to figure it. All I need is the diameter of the wire, Inside diameter of the coil, and the number of coils(at one end where the coils come together that is 0, count the coils directly in line with that point until you come to the top of the spring and if it doesn't come out perfect to a round number then give it to me in tenths. Here's an example 8.2 coils. You will need a micrometer to get the exact gauge of the wire diameter to be the most acurate.
