I just got my new HOtcams, and what i noticed on the literature that came with it it said NOT to use synthetic oil or lubes. Is this for some reason that HOtcams dont work with synthetic or what? Ive used AMSOIL, and I dont want to mess anything up if truly using synthetics can damage a cam. Perhaps anyone with some good knowledge on this could lend some advice.
Thanks

I broke in mine with Honda oil for about 6-10 hours to make sure it was broke-in, at start-up make sure you put it at 3000 rpm for 20 minute's ( crucial beak in period for cam) and drain the oil I went back with Honda oil (non-synthetic) ..after It has 6-10 hours I went to Amsoil, worked for my 416,:D

If you use synthic oil when you break in its too slick and does not allow the new parts to break in correctly.

If you just breaking in a cam you can just run it at around 3000 or so and vary the RPM.

If you have a new piston that will glaze the rings over it has to have restance to break it in properly

Read this article its makes allot of sense

Thats how i broke in my 416, I took it out rode it hard for about 30 minutes and then let it cool down I did that for4 times. Then I changed the oil and thats it :D

no, durablend is a semi-synthetic that contain friction modifiers. They are bad for your clutch, and it is too slippery for the break in process.

what kinda oil should i use then

you just want a straight non synthetic blend oil for break in. Use that for about the first 3-5 hours then change the oil and replace with the same kind ride for another 3-5 hours then replace with ur choice.

I use either Honda gn4 10w40 or Valvoline ATV 10w40, all you need is something that doesn't contain friction modifiers.
