I am running good with 15T-38T, but hitting the rev-limiter quick now, thinking of 16T-38T .....................Anyone running this setup??

Looking to make a change also. Will a 16 tooth work with a pro design case saver?

i personally like the higher gearing setup also. however, it seems like i hit the rev limiter just as easy with the higher gearing. for drag racing a cdi box helped quite a bit. most people disagree, but i probably gained a couple bike lengths by the time i was in 5th gear dragging when i put the rev box on. i would just hit the stock limit in the first 3 gears.

I agree, I was hitting the stock rev limit all the time so I got a big gun rev box. I haven't hit the rev limiter once since putting it on.

I was amazed at the difference it made when I switched to a 16t front. It really lets the motor take advantage of the mid range power instead of just revving right through it with the lower gearing. Gave the bike much longer legs in between gears. I'm even considering going to a 37t rear just to see what happens.

We use a 16 37 and a 16 39 tooth combo depending on the tires we are running that day and really like it. 16 37 for mx and 16 39 for gncc:)

I run 15/36 and it seems to be just right in the dunes. It's very close to a 16/38.

14T will be like a bat outa hell out of the hole (short time, though) maybe good for super tight trails, I tryed one for a while it felt good for a while till I ran it on a straight run and got blown away, it takes away alot of topend speed, depends on what you do and what you want:D

Is 16 39 the best gearing for XC ? Should I put a high rev CDI on too? I have a stock CDI and I hit the rev limiter with 15 38. I have a 426 ported, oversize valves, 11.1 piston, and a 450/451 web cam. If anyone can help me out ??

I run a 16/37 on my 426, but ran the same thing when it was still at 416. i love it. but i have found that it is a little too high for tight indoor tracks. but otherwise the 16/37 id say is the way to go. now if u have a long big track, and the power to pull it, a 16/36 is nice too.

Hermann racing makes a case saver that will clear a 16 tooth sprocket, thats what i have on mine

I run 16/34 sprockets and love 'em !! I like not having to change gears as much when trail riding. When we go to H. McCoy I leave it in 2nd sometimes 3rd the whole time. Of course, I do have a couple tricks done to my motor to allow it.;)

im running a 14t front and 38 rear, and a 416 also, with 22" holeshots,a nd i dont have a problem witht he rev limmiter, just give your bike a rest, and try to shift right before the box regulates your spark, i should work out good!
