Dont flame me as this will probably be a stupid question. Coming off of riding a Blaster (2-Stroke), if you just put an aftermarket silencer on, you didn't get any real powers gains. But when you put an aftermarket headpipe and silencer on there, it really woke the quad up. Is it the same way with four strokes? Will someone explain this to me please?:confused2

No, it's not the same, because of the difference between two and four strokes. Here (http://www.exriders.com/techarticles/twostroke.html) is an explanation of how a two-stroke works, if you aren't familiar.

In a two-stroke, a resonant frequency inside the pipe helps build compression. The pipe is an intergral part of the powerband.

With the valves on a 4-stroke, you don't need the pipe to help build compression, so changing the pipe doesn't really affect the power characteristics. An aftermarket pipe offers less restriction, so it will help a little, but not near as much as a 2-stroke pipe.

I agree with the post above.
Another way to look at it is, a pipe on a 2-stroke is like a cam on a 4-stroke.

i agree the pipe on a 2 stroke is way more benifical because of the chamber.
