my clutch seems to be stiff when pulling it in it works fine but seems harder to pull in then usual. i tried adjusting it but it didn't matter. my lever seems to have a little play in it also.(up and down) the bolt is all the way tight am i missing a washer is this just normal or do i need a new cable.

The lever play is normal. Try lubing the cable, and if that doesn't work, replace it.

Go to yor dealer or local parts shop, and buy a cable luber. It is a little block that mounts to your cable and allows you to squirt lubricant into it. I use LPS, but WD40 works well also. They are realtively cheap.

spend $11 on a new cable. Easy to replace and will make a HUGE difference! Lube helps, but if it's sooo mucked up, it's just easier to buy a new one and keep the new one lubed regularly.

Good point. Start off fresh, for such a small expenditure. Just keep it lubed.

i ha d problem with the little wire that keeps the cable away from the headers. the cable got hot and the casing melted around the cable. i ended up replacing it withe a much stronger material. no problems since.

I went and bought a new cable yesterday. I didn't have a chance to put in on yet. I asked my dealer about lube and he sad he wouldn't lube it at all. I ride in alot of sand and he said the sand would stick to the lube and make it wear faster. anyone agree with this.
